Sometimes there are things about blogging that I just can't stand to deal with and they are as follows:1. When I read someone's post and see that there are 52 comments, well not 52, but something like 16, 22, 28 etc. When the hell did all these people get there? Sometimes I'll just keep walking because I just don't want to be #562- or whatever. When a place is too crowded I'll leave.
2. When I know for a fact (site meter) that someone has been continually checking me out and will not say hello. If I catch you checking me out on line or in person and you don't say a word, I find it annoying and rude. Come on in and speak- it's easy.
3. When someone takes my comment and interprets it out of context. It's frustrating.
4. When I can't see their facial expressions. Actually that I can't see anything, but I guess that's the point.
5. When I land on someone's blog and then get distracted by something else (very easy for me) and I imagine them looking at their site meter noticing that I've been on it for a very long time. It really didn't take me 50 minutes to read your 3 sentences, I just got distracted and I'm sorry.
6.When I find out that two random blogging people are actual live friends. Blows my mind for some reason.
7. When I have to wait days for a response to a question type comment.
8. When I start to form a 'vision' of what someone looks like or imagine what they might be like and find out I'm completely wrong.
9. When I think that all this could just disappear any second because of something beyond my control. Or if someone just decides to quit. Poof- no more. That bothers me.
10. When I'm looking for something to do on any random night and I can't call one of you to grab a beer with.
That's not me by the way- just in case you thought so. I wouldn't wear that kind of bracelet...

I hear you, R.D. Online communication has its advantages and disadvantages for sure. The only two things you listed that I've not experienced are #5 and #6.
I sure wish we could get together over a beer and talk Sox and Pats. :)

I have a question about #2 and #5 - what's the site meter? I thought it was just something that showed how many people have looked at the site. How can you tell who looks at it? I'm confused...
And, I'm totally with you on the last one - I would love to go have a beer sometime with you! Afunt and I have even talked about going to Chi-cago!

Man, I must drive you crazy. I don't answer comments right away, I don't always comment on posts right away, I'm sure I'm nothing that you'd imagine, I always misinturpret things (or it appears that I do), I am live friends with random bloggers...
I am just getting you going of course. I know what you mean, but sometimes the annoying parts about blogging are also the good things about blogging. I love that I get to connect with people who I would never have the opportunity to connect with if not for blogging. I think blogging, at least for me, allows people to see me in ways that I would not in real life. I could go on more, but I think you can get my point.
hmm, I bet I have done that to you (the not answering questions thing). But I don't answer any comments. Seems more fair not to answer anyone than to just answer one or two.
Luckily for you, there are NEVER 52 comments on my blog.
Couple other points to note - my facial expression is almost always one of two ...smiling, or blank (spaced).

I LOVE the photo! That makes it on my ten favorite things about blogging list - when you get to see a little snippet of the person behind the cool voice.
But to get immediately back to bitching...it secretly bugs me too when someone says, "oh, I read your blog all the time" but never say one word on the actual blog. Come on, I wouldn't post all my screwups and misadventures if I wasn't giving everyone an opportunity to make fun of me about them...sheesh. :) Besides, it just plain makes my day when I see a little note from my circle. Call me shmoopy.
I will never have 52 comments on my blog...thank god. If I ever do I know it's probably time to move cities and quit my job.
Site meter is such a weird thing...I love it, but some people get really obsessed with it. Some bloggers I know routine go through to look at who goes to their site, how many pages they read, how long they stay on...who cares? As you said, I might leave my browser on something for hours while I'm at work. Chill, people, we're online, after all. If you don't want people reading your shit, maybe the world wide web isn't quite the right forum for it :)
I thought it so cool that Trin and Afunt were real friends...I thought you knew too. I don't know any of my circle in real life. Ya'll live too darn far south. :(

Check out sitemeter.com for more info. It's just a detailed way to check out who's been checking out your web page- by browser and location, etc. I always assume everyone has it but that's incorrect. If you two ever plan to head out to Chi-town that would be strange... strange in a good way of course.

zoe, evn though these thing may bother me at times I can deal with them, and wouldn't stop blogging because of them. I too have aprreciated connecting with people that I otherwise would never have gotten the chance to know. I don't typically connect with people in real life as easily- I'm pretty tight. You don't drive me crazy by the way- I'm used to you.

When you see so many comments, sometimes it's just discussions going back and forth in the comments, not that there are that many people commenting.
I get distracted on other people's blogs all the time, or I leave a blog window open and go do something else, etc... Hey, life happens.
I'm not good about always commenting. Sometimes I'm tired and just want to read a few before shutting down for the night.
On #6, there's often some twisted part of me that feels jealous when that happens. It's like hey, I want to be their friend, too!.
#10, totally agree with you. I have some people online who I feel closer to than people I know offline. Door's always open if you're ever in this neck of the woods - just give me 20 min. notice so I can run to the store, we don't keep beer stocked. :)

sassyfemme, you were actually the one I was thinking about when I mentioned the 15 trillion comments. I know it's sometimes back and forth chatter and it's ok, it's just sometimes frustrating for me. It's my own issue, don't worry about it. I'll be sure to give you a heads up if I'm in your neighborhood but since I have no idea where that is and hate it when people drop in on me even with 20 minutes notice, it probably will never happen.

i concur with everything you said. my overall question is where do people get the TIME? for so much bloggin? in fact i just said to myself. shit i really need to be working... what the hell am i doing? but i saw your new post and had to comment. some people are like oprah on here. i too don't comment when there is like 55,000 comments. it is like the "real life" me. i am uncomfortable with too many friends or trying to squeeze into a crowd.
also, i rarely comment back on my own site. sometimes i do, but mostly respond via email ~ but if i dont it is cuz i get a no-reply blog comment.
what is a site meter? and can people really see you on their site? like who you are? and that you are there? weird.
I know earth monkey, I know-I eat my words. I hear you about the crowds, show me a group and I go the other way.
Site meter isn't as personal as you may think- meaning it only shows someone's Internet Service Provider, the state they are in and when they visited your site, but there's no names or anything.
I have no idea how people have so much time to do this. I usually only get to it with my coffee in the morning and if I'm lucky with a beer at night but sometimes it gets in the way of 'life' so I have to be careful. Thanks for taking some time-
